The Last Bathing Beauty

By Amy Sue Nathan

A tease, a twist, a choice.

This adroitly crafted book is super fun to read.

Author Amy Sue Nathan uses a dual timeline to take us into the life of a teenage girl at a lakeside summer resort in the 1950s and then juxtaposes a present-day timeline where we meet the same person, but completely different from the young girl’s dreams.

We’re teased with the question of what happened. We know the secrets and loves and mishaps from years ago will have a consequence the young girl doesn’t see, and we’re captured in the emotional journey of regret and promise.

Ultimately, the present-day protagonist has to reconcile with her past choices.

Satisfyingly, she finds it’s not too late to live the life she wants.
